With this alliance, more than 150,000 children from 900 public and private schools will benefit from the workshops on programming and robotics.

This agreement adds to the one signed with the City Council last May to bring technology closer to young people.

everis Foundation and Torre Juana OST have signed a collaboration agreement to promote scientific and technological vocations (STEM) in children of Alicante and increase their interest in these areas of knowledge.

This agreement will allow more than 150,000 children to access, free of charge, programming and robotics workshops which will be offered by everis professionals in a fun way in the Torre Juana center, starting in September.

This initiative is aimed at children from 7 to 14 years old, who may learn how to create their own videogames, how to program and build robots, how to design series and animate their own characters. The purpose is to bring technology closer to the children, not only as consumers but also as creators.

These workshops are based on Scratch, a programming language developed by the MIT Media Lab and will be offered by volunteers of the everis Foundation who will share their experience and knowledge with the children.

With this alliance we merge our commitment to promote scientific and technological vocations at an early age with the support for innovation offered by Torre Juana OST. Our two entities will work together so that technology is a training axis for the children of Alicante’, explained Félix Bonmatí, Vice President of the everis Foundation.

For his part Andrés Pedreño, founder of Torre Juana OST, noted that ‘in order to be well positioned in the sectors of the future and especially in the digital economy, it is essential to promote a very early culture in children and young people. It is the key to improving university employability and to solving problems such as the huge deficit in STEM degrees that we suffer today, and the no less worrying rate of youth unemployment, the highest after Greece. We are delighted with this collaboration agreement with an institution as prestigious as the everis Foundation, so we do our share to create a technological culture among students in collaboration with the schools of the Alicante province who have requested visits to our Torre Juana space’.

This agreement is part of the Torre Juana project for educational centers, which is an initiative open to technology companies and schools that aims to disseminate the heritage of Torres de la Huerta, together with culture and technology, connecting past and future, and taking the Torre Juana space as a meeting point.

everis Foundation, which has recently closed other agreement in this regard with the Alicante City Council, works to promote STEAM vocations since 2015. At present, the programming and robotics workshops are held in 21 offices around the world with the aim of leaving a transformative, impacting and positive footprint in all the countries where everis is present.
